Theodore “Ted” C. Kosloski, 85, Moose Lake, formerly of Willow River, died peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in Moose Lake Village. He fought a brave battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy for over 7 years.
He was born on January 29, 1941 to Toful and Dorothy (Larson) Kosloski in Kettle River Twp., west of Willow River on the family farm during a blizzard. He grew up on the farm and attended Willow River High School, graduating in 1959. Ted worked on a pipeline in the Dakotas for a brief time before starting a 44-year career as a commercial printer for Diamond Brands in Cloquet. His hard work ethic made him have a second job in the evenings of pumping gas at the station in Cloquet designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. He lived in Cloquet and Brookston until the early 70’s when he moved back to Willow River.
On October 26, 1973, Ted married Ann Marie Nielsen at a friend’s house in Pine City. Together they blended their families and created a legacy of love living in Willow River and later building a home next to the Kosloski Farmstead where he helped his parents beef farm through the years and later took over the farm. Farming was not just a hobby for Ted, but it was his life. He had a great love for raising beef cows, especially Simmental and later Black Angus. Ted also operated Whispering Wings Game Farm and raised pheasants, chukars, quail, and wild turkeys. After retirement in 2003, Ted worked for over 10 years at Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home. After his farm responsibilities ceased, he traveled with Ann as they took several trips throughout the United States, Canada, and Aruba. He had a great love of dancing, deer hunting, camping, woodworking, and doing puzzles. Ted will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and teasing the grandkids with his stubby forefinger.
He served on the Willow River School Board, Faith Lutheran Church Council, Barnum Community Church Council, and was a Kettle River Township Officer for over 24 years.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents: Toful and Dorothy Kosloski and his granddaughter: Hannah Kosloski.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Ann; four children: James (Sylvia) Kosloski; Richard (Shelly Carpenter) Kosloski, Michelle (Ed) Daoust; Michael (Katherine) Kosloski; 18 grandchildren: Seth, Noah (Judy), Lucas (Belle), Mya (Mike), Evan (Rebekah), Loren (Melissa), Michael (Brandi), Bob (Maigan), Dan (Karina), Adam, Danae (Joseph), Aaron, Erika (Bryceton), Andrew (Anja), Landon (Mykenna), Carter, Raelynn, and Logan (Sophie); and 32 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were extremely important to him.
The family would like to thank the staff at Moose Lake Village and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care given to Ted. You weren’t just his caregivers; you were his friends and family. He enjoyed you and had a great love for teasing all of you with his keen sense of humor.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, July 22, 2026 in Evangelical Covenant Church, Moose Lake with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Lunch will follow the service. A funeral procession will leave the Covenant Church at 2 pm and proceed to Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Birch Creek Twp.
