Theodore "Ted" Zuk
Theodore "Ted" Zuk, 79, Sturgeon Lake, died peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, November 13, 2008 in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. He was born on January 19, 1929 at home in Sturgeon Lake Township to Anton and Katie Zuk. Ted was drafted in the Military in May 1946 during the Korean War as a SFC and was Honorably Discharged in May 1951. On April 25, 1953, Ted married Hermina "Luxy" Laxen in Winsted. Ted worked at Conwed in Cloquet from 1951 until 1986 when he continued his work at USG for the remainder of his career retiring in 1991. At home, having his family around him was his first joy. You were always welcome at Ted's house. He loved to cook and usually insisted on feeding you something – you never left hungry! Ted loved his horses and farming. He also processed meats and made his famous sausages which his four boys proudly continue this tradition. Ted also started the Jolly Zuks Band in 1965 and was known for playing the washboard bass.
Ted is preceded in death by Ted's parents: Katie and Anton; and his brothers and sister: Joe, Annie, and Albert.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Hermina "Luxy"; Ted's sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Bernard (Cheryl), Rita (Rich) Parzy, Richie & Braden; Richard, Hannah & Emma; Dennis (Deanne), Becky (Neil) Kerkvliet, Gibson & Mason; Jon, Tim, & Nate; Dale (Pat), Carleen (Keith) Gates & Ben; Ron (Cindy), Ryan & Katie; Ted's brothers and sisters: Stanley, Louie (Martha); Martha Pec; and Rosie Sczustek; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loyal pet, Scooter.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital and Health Care Center with a special thank you to Dr. Tekippe. They would also like to thank Father Timothy Deutsch for all his visits with Ted.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 2-4 PM with a Rosary Service at 4 PM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Mass of Christian Burial was at 3:00 PM on Monday, November 17, 2008 at St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Sturgeon Lake with a visitation at the church one hour prior to the Mass.
