Thomas George Hammitt, 63, of Duluth, formerly of Moose Lake, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 from cancer in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.  He was born October 19, 1953 in Moose Lake to Lyle and Elaine (Feller) Hammitt.  Tom was united in marriage to Dawn Grathwohl on June 15, 1996 in Moose Lake.  Tom enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, camping, leatherwork and riding motorcycle.  Tom was also very involved in horse racing at the Carlton County Fair.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Coral Sampson; 2 brothers, Alroy and James Hammitt.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Hammitt of Duluth; step-son, Joe (Kristine) Jordet of Roseville; brother, Jerry (Patti) Hammitt of Sturgeon Lake; sister, Joy (Kevin) Kubat of North Branch; sisters-in-law, Jean Hendrickson of Sturgeon Lake; Patsy Hammitt of Bruno; Tracy (Mike) Gensler of Urbana, IA; and Kristy (Troy) Buchman of Gilbert, IA; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Shirley Grathwohl of Ames, IA; several nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, January 28, from 11 AM until the Noon Memorial Service in Oak Lake Lutheran Church, Kerrick.
