Thomas "Tom" Herzfeldt passed away Thursday, February 3 rd , 2022 peacefully at his home with his loving wife of 38 years with him. Tom was born September 9 th , 1956 in Shawano, WI to Richard and Phyllis Herzfeldt.
He graduated from Shawano High School where he was the Captain of the Wrestling Team. Tom attended Wisconsin State University - Stevens Point before transferring and graduating from Wisconsin State University Stout. It was at the Minneapolis Airport where he would fall in love with his wife, Debbie, in 1981 while she was a server and he was a food and beverage supervisor. They married in 1984, welcomed their son, Richard, in 1985, and their daughter, Rachel, in 1987. Tom worked at Canterbury Downs before moving the family to Sturgeon Island in 1992. He took great pride in his work when he was hired as Director of Food and Beverage at Grand Casino Hinckley and helped establish the food and beverage department in 1991 before retirement in 2018 after many years of hard work, dedication, and fun. Tom enjoyed making memories with family and friends at his home, in Shawano, fishing in Canada and at summer and deer camp in the UP of Michigan. Fishing and hunting were his favorite hobbies. He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Wild fan, but loved his Packers. He will be remembered for his kindness and can-do, if not stubborn, attitude. Always the man with a carefully written plan, and a smile and friendly greeting to whomever he met.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard, and mother, Phyllis Herzfeldt; and parents-in-law, Kent and Melanie Peterson.
Tom is survived by his wife Debbie; son, Richard Herzfeldt; daughter, Rachel (Richard) Skog; grandsons, Victor and Harold Skog; man's best friend, Bo dog; brother, Rick Herzfeldt; sister, Julie (Kevin) Wirtz; in-laws, Marci and Jay DesJarden and Brian and Megan Peterson; many nieces, nephews, and friends that were chosen family.
