Obituary

Timothy "Timmy" Nummela, 57, Coon Rapids, formerly of Kettle River, died Thursday, November 15, 2018 in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident.  He was born on July 31, 1961 to Melvin Nummela and Lil Nummela-Evensen.  He grew up in Kalevala Twp. and had the privilege of attending one of the last "country schools" that remained operational in the area and having his mother as a teacher for two years.  After 3 rd grade, Kalevala school closed and Timmy attended Barnum High School graduating in 1979.  He attended Duluth Business University where he earned a degree in Accounting and Business.  Timmy moved to the Twin Cities in 1984.  He was a happy go lucky guy who loved to socialize and stay active playing broomball, fastpitch softball, mixed doubles tournaments, and golf.  On August 31, 1996, he married Kristine Johnson in Anoka.  In 1997, Timmy joined Farmers Union Insurance Agency as an accountant where he was currently employed.  Timmy loved his wife and their 4 wonderful children whom he was very proud of and loved to coach, give advice, and offer good ideas as they experienced sports and life.  He was a proud member of East Kalevala Gun Club and enjoyed family times at "The Lake" near Wright.  Timmy will long be remembered for his quick witted, smart aleck sense of humor and the many pranks and antics he was part of.  He truly was a "one of a kind" great guy who always had fun with family and friends.  Tim loved people and continued this love after death with the gift of organ and tissue donation.

Timmy was preceded in death by his father: Melvin Nummela; mother: Lil Nummela-Evensen; and stepfather: Orv Evensen.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend, Kris; their 4 children: Kendra of Nowthen; Cole, Anna, and Leah all of Coon Rapids; 5 siblings: Randy (Pat) Nummela of Mora; Terry (Julie) Nummela of Moose Lake; Miya (Bobby) Kohmetscher of Kettle River; Haley (Josh) Hammitt of Moose Lake; and Nick (Maddi Milczark) Nummela of Kettle River; step-mom: Barb Nummela of Barnum; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
