Vernon "Vern" Robert Olson

Vernon "Vern" Robert Olson, 54, Yuma, AZ, formerly of Moose Lake, died on Sunday, February 19, 2012 in Yuma. Vern was born on April 17, 1957 in Cloquet to Norman "Jack" and Marie Olson. He attended school in Moose Lake until enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Vern was a longtime resident of the Moose Lake area and resided the past six years in Yuma, AZ. Vern spent time working at both the Moose Lake Implement and Ske's Auto Body Shop in Moose Lake. He was also a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Moose Club of both Moose Lake and Yuma, AZ, Moose Lake Jaycees, and the American Legion and VFW of Yuma.

Vern was preceded in death by his step father: Axel "Gus" Gustafson, his father: Norman "Jack" Olson, and grandparents.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years: Joan "Joni" of Yuma; son: Scott (Karen) Johnson of North Branch; two grandchildren: Abby and Zach of North Branch who were the lights of his life; his mother: Marie Gustafson of Sturgeon Lake; two brothers: Kenny (Trudy) Olson of Lakeville and Steve Olson of Fairchild, WI; brother-in-law: James (Jane) Keel of Farmington; two sister-in-laws: Jean (Wayne) Delly of Chanute, KS and Joyce (Ron) Bowser of Moose Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends from all over the country.

Vernon was a kind hearted, generous soul and never let his disability "handicap" his life.

A Memorial Visitation was held from 2 PM until the 3 PM Memorial Service on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Pastor Reggie Denton was the officiate.
