Obituary

Violet "Vi" Elizabeth Heiskari, 89, of Kettle River and Moose Lake, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 in The Lighthouse of Barnum. She was born April 22, 1925 in Kettle River to Nick and Lutra (Krigsholm) Koivisto. Violet was united in marriage to James "Lee" Heiskari on March 25, 1961 in Kettle River. Vi was co-founder of Ma & Pa Kettle Days in Kettle River as well as a member of the American Legion Auxillary of Kettle River. Vi enjoyed sewing, reading, knitting, traveling and gardening.

Vi is preceded in death by her husband, Lee; her parents; brother, Ray Koivisto; sister, Helmi Reed; sons-in-law, Don Kent and Ray Hughes.

Vi is survived by 1 son, Jerry (Carol) Haryu of Kettle River; 4 daughters, Linda Hughes of Robbinsdale, Kathy Kent of Carlton, Carol (Jim) Telenko of Barnum and Donna (Rick) Edington of Duncombe, IA; grandchildren, Tim (Roxanne) Haryu, Dave (Melissa DeChene) Hughes, Todd (Melanie) Haryu, Jon Hughes, Joe Warpula, Terri (Jan) Matavovsky, Jessica (Jason) Schultz and Jennifer Hughes; great grandchildren, Bryce Haryu, Ryan Hughes, Emily Hughes, Thea Hughes, Julia Barrett, Donovan Barrett and Ricardo Barrett Jr.; 1 great great granddaughter, Avaline Haryu-Koecher; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Violet's Life will be held Saturday, May 16th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 P.M. at The Fires of 1918 Museum of Moose Lake.
