Obituary

Walter Wayne Drang, 62, Moose Lake, formerly of Wright and Chicago, died suddenly on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 in Moose Lake. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 31, 1947 to Walter J. and Elizabeth Drang. Walter attended Monroe Grade School in Chicago and later graduated from Albert G. Lane Technical High School. In 1971, Walter attained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. While attending college, Walter worked during the summer at the United States Atomic Energy Commission in Nevada. After working as a surveyor in St. Lucia and the Virgin Islands, Walter moved back to Chicago where he worked for a contractor. Walter was very proud to have worked as a surveyor on the large power line project that runs through Northern Minnesota. He was an avid reader, antique collector, and an organic gardener whom was known for his tomatoes which he canned with his mother. Walter was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Walter assisted his Mother in so many ways and helped her maintain her independence and ability to live on her own at her house. He also loved to bring his Mother and would often bring her on an extra ride through the area after her appointments.

He is preceded in death by his Father: Walter J. Drang in 1977.

Walter will be lovingly remembered by his Mother: Elizabeth Drang of Wright; his Special Friend: RoseMarie Roszak of Moose Lake; his Sister: Dorothy (John) Duran of Pennsylvania; his Nephew: Brian (Catherine) Duran of Pennsylvania; his Niece: Carolyn (Terry) Duran-Franks of Portland; a Great Niece: Mikaela Duran; and a Great Nephew: Solomon Franks and numerous cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Father Eamonn Boland will be the celebrant. Private Spring Inurnment will be held in Wright Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in Walter's memory.
