WILLIAM "BILL"
CARLSON
Apr 3, 1938 — Oct 21, 2026
MOOSE LAKE, MINNESOTA
William “Bill” Carlson, 88, passed away peacefully on October 21,2026. He is now reunited in heaven with his wife of 60 years, Carol, who passed away in 2021. Bill and Carol vowed to love and honor each other, until death remembers them as one.
Bill and Carol were born on the iron range, which helped shape their ethnic values. Nashwauk High School in 1954 is where they began their lifelong relationship and spent wonderful years together.
Their cabin on Lower Balsam Lake is where they passed on the reflections of their heritage to their two children, Gary Carlson of Minneapolis and Gail (David) Wangen of Cloquet; granddaughters, Emily (Nick) Braunig and Abbey (Collin) Deans-Brandt; and two great grandchildren, Casey Braunig and Laiken Deans-Brandt who continue to celebrate family traditions.
Bill was a talented carpenter and woodworker and has left many of his projects for his family to cherish and serve as reminders of his great love of family.
Bill and Carol’s devotion extended beyond their family and expanded into the Moose Lake Community where they made their home since 1963. Bill taught industrial and graphic arts at Moose Lake Schools for over 30 years. He was a volunteer firefighter and fire chief for the Moose Lake Fire Department; served on the boards of the Moose Lake Area Fire Protection District and Water and Light Commission; and was elected to the Moose Lake City Council where he served his community for a number of years. He was actively involved in implementing many community improvement projects up until the time of his death. They were happy to give back for all the friendships that touched their lives. They often paused to look back at what they have helped to accomplish, while cherishing the blessing of fulfilling a life together.
Over the years, Bill and Carol always took care of each other. Now is the time for family and friends to remember them for the good life they shared together.
There will be a private family graveside service at Sunset Cemetery in Moose Lake. Plans are to have a Celebration of Life at the family cabin on Lower Balsam Lake.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church of Moose Lake to help fund broadcasting of worship services.
Arrangements are being handled by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home in Moose Lake, Minnesota.
