William A. Ukura
William A. Ukura, 69, McGregor, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 in Minneapolis at the VA Medical Center.
He was born on July 15, 1945 in Brainerd to William and Lydia Ukura. William grew up in the Crosby area and also in Africa while his father worked for a few years. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Japan during the Vietnam War. William attended college in the Twin Cities and later St. Cloud State University where attained his degree to become a school teacher. He student taught in St. Cloud and later taught in Alvarado and Monticello retiring from the latter where he taught Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy. William married Susan Anderson on July 20, 1991 in Monticello. In 2004, they moved to the Lawler area. William enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Lorraine Midthun, Beatrice Thompson, and Beverly Ukura.
William will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Susan; step daughter: Debra (Mark) Langanki of Warba; step son: Gregory (Sandee) Verootis of Clearwater; sister: LaVonne (Jerry) Pearson of Mora; 5 grandchildren: Charlotte, Colton, Garrett, Maria, and Nick; brother-in-law: Del (Patricia) Gibson of Colorado Springs and sister-in-law: Carol (David) Redding of Riverside, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be on Noon until the 2 PM services on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Cremation will follow the services with Private family inurnment at a later date in Lakewood Cemetery, Crosby.
