William "Bill" Wesley, 76, of Moose Lake, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake with his family by his side. Bill was a native of Moose Lake, born December 15, 1933 to Fred and Leah (Morse) Wesley. Bill was united in marriage to Mavis Berg on September 3, 1952 in Moose Lake. Bill and Mavis lived their life on Coffee Lake, which became a State Century Farm in 1988. Bill began work at the Old Home Creamery on the corner of Hwy 61 and 5th street. After a short stint at Roos Chevrolet, he started November 1, 1961 as a night operator at the Municipal Power Plant. He was employed there for 34 years, becoming the superintendent in 1988 until his retirement in 1995. During this time he also served for over 20 years on the Moose Lake Volunteer Fire Department and was Fire Chief from 1980 to December of 1985. Bill served in the National Guard for six years. He also drove ambulance for Mercy Hospital. Bill raised beef cattle in his "spare time" his entire life. He loved camping with his family, deer hunting with his friends and was very talented at woodworking. Bill once bowled a 300 game.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Mavis; 4 children, Valarie Wesley of St. Paul, Coral (Bruce) Eskuri, David (Kim) Wesley and Holly (Robert) Bishop, all of Moose Lake; 11 grandchildren, Noelle (Tymon) Konieska, Brandon (Tabitha) Eskuri, Matthew Wesley, Katy Wesley, Christopher Robinson, Heather Robinson, Jason (Megan) Robinson, Tiffany (Derrick) Whitehead, Cheyenne Bishop, Dakota "Cody" Bishop and Logan Bishop; 4 great grandchildren, Jade Eskuri, Taylor Eskuri, Ella Whitehead and Tristan Whitehead; cousin, Dean Hovey; his hunting partners and lifelong friend, Bob Gunderson.
Visitation was on Monday, February 22, from 5-7 PM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continued on Tuesday, February 23, from 10 AM until the 11 AM service in Barnum Community United Methodist Church, Barnum.
